You've invested in a website. You've got a logo, pages, maybe even a blog. But the phone isn't ringing. The inbox is quiet. Crickets.
If that sounds familiar, you're not alone — and you're not doing anything wrong.
A website alone doesn't generate leads.
It's a tool — not a strategy. And like any tool, it needs to be used correctly.
1. No One Can Find You
This might sound obvious, but a lot of business owners think that once a website goes live, people will just magically find it. Truth is, the internet is noisy.
If you're not actively pointing people toward your website, it's probably not getting seen.
What helps:
- Set up and optimise your Google Business Profile
- Collect reviews from happy customers
- Share your site link everywhere (email footer, socials, quotes, invoices)
- Start small with some local SEO or targeted ads
If you're already getting traffic but no conversions, the next few sections are for you.
2. The Site Looks Great But Doesn't Build Trust
First impressions matter. A slow, outdated, or confusing site can send visitors running before they even know what you do.
Things to check:
- Does your homepage clearly say who you help and what you do?
- Is there a clear, visible CTA? ("Book a Call", "Get a Quote", etc.)
- Are you using testimonials, trust badges, or Google reviews?
Visitors shouldn't have to figure out how to take action.
3. Your Tech Is Silently Sabotaging You
You'd be surprised how many forms just don't work. Or contact buttons that go nowhere. Or slow-loading pages that tank mobile visits.
Your checklist:
- Is your form working? (Send yourself a test!)
- Is your site mobile-friendly?
- Is SSL enabled? (Look for the padlock icon)
- Is everything up to date?
If your site is broken, Google notices. So do your customers.
4. You're Not Following Up
Even if people do take action, it often takes a few touchpoints before they're ready to commit. A contact form submission is just the beginning.
What you can try:
- Offer something valuable (like a checklist or discount) in exchange for their email
- Send an automated thank you email
- Follow up 24–48 hours later with something useful (not salesy)
5. You Built It… But There's No Funnel
Websites aren't just digital business cards. They're part of a broader marketing journey.
Ask yourself:
- What do I want visitors to do when they land here?
- Am I giving them a reason to trust me and act now?
- Where do they go next?
Even a simple 2-step funnel (e.g. Download PDF → Email follow-up → Book a call) can make a world of difference.
So… What Now?
If your website isn't generating leads, it doesn't mean you failed.
But it does mean there are leaks in the system. Plug those leaks, and you'll start seeing results.
You deserve a website that works harder for your business.
